All Church Conference

All in the church are welcome to attend the annual Church Conference. Our Superintendent, Dick Wisdom, will be with us to celebrate our church life and ministries of 2014, and look ahead with us to 2015.

The theme for the Conference is Who Is My Neighbor? with a special emphasis on the question, So how are the children? Each of us has been given an assignment of asking a child or teenager one or more of the following questions, and bringing the answers with us to the Conference:

What is the best part of your day?
What is the least favorite part of your day?
What makes the kids in your community cry?
If you could change something about this world, what would it be?
If you could change something about the church, what would it be?

We hope to see you at the Conference, and at the fellowship and refreshment time afterward.

Career Connect Recruiting Event

Career Connect Metro West (CCMW) is an organization established to help connect unemployed and underemployed people to quality living wage jobs in western Cook, DuPage and the Fox River towns in Kane and Kendal Counties. CCMW is a partnership between DuPage United, the Jane Addams Resource Center, the Alliance for Illinois Manufacturing, and DuPage County, to provide free training for skilled jobs that are critically needed by manufacturers in DuPage County and the surrounding district.

DGFUMC will host a recruitment event on Tuesday, August 26 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., for those interested in learning about the training opportunities in CNC machining and welding through CCMW. See the Career Connect page for more details.

All-Church Conference - Parsonage Proposal

An all church conference will be held on Sunday Feb 23 after the 11:00 service. The purpose of this meeting will be a presentation and vote to sell the 1108 Maple parsonage. Parsonage Proposal

Charge Conference

Cross and Flame We are looking forward to holding the annual Charge Conference October 28th at 7:00 p.m. Our new district superintendent, Dick Wisdom, will lead this time of reflection on the year of our church life we are completing as well as the possibilities for us as a congregation in the year and years ahead.

All church leaders and members are encouraged to attend.

Charge Conference

A Charge Conference will be held at 11:15 a.m., following the 10:00 a.m. summer worship service, on Sunday, June 2, in the Sanctuary. The purpose of the Conference is to vote on transferring our current debt to a lower-interest "Red Door" loan, offered to us through our Northern Illinois Conference.

Bishop to speak at our church for the Aurora District Training Day

Bishop Sally Dyck We are looking forward to welcoming our new Bishop, Sally Dyck, and leaders from throughout the Aurora District for the District Training Day, to be held at our church, on Saturday, February 16, from 9:30am-12:45pm.

All are encouraged to come to the event, which will begin with registration at 8:45, and then the presentation by Bishop Dyck at 9:30. A question-and-answer session with the Bishop will follow, as well as workshops on Revitalizing churches, Church communications, Trustees, and Staff-Parish Relations. Please register on the Training Day web page.

In addition, you are invited to be on the hosting team from our church that day -- either serving on the parking lot crew, greeting and guiding out guests to their locations in the church, preparing or serving food, or set-up and clean-up. Call our church office for more information, or to volunteer to help.
