Chapel Choir Tour 2013 - Information and Forms

Below you will find all of the informational handouts and forms for the 2013 Chapel Choir Tour to New Orleans, LA.

Spring Tea - Quilt Stories

The Annual Spring Tea will be held on Saturday, April 6th from 2 to 4 pm in the church gym.

We will enjoy tea and refreshments (including tea sandwiches and chocolate fountains!) as we celebrate quilts. Chris Hudson will talk about how she creates beautiful quilts. We will have quilts on display from many of the talented quilters in our congregation. If you have a quilt you would like to share with us, bring it along and tell your story. Attendees will decorate fabric squares which will be made into a commemorative quilt, and we will have special activities for children.

Bring your friends with you for an afternoon of fun and fellowship. Tickets, which are $15 for adults and $8 for those 12 and under, will be available Sunday mornings in the parlor beginning March 10th.

Proceeds from this year’s tea will benefit the Worship Work Area and the Guatemala Connection group.

If you have a teapot or two you would be willing to lend us, please let us know.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact Andi Kinsella or Nancy Bifulco. We hope to see you there!

A Little Conservation Goes a Long Way

What is Water Efficiency?

Water efficiency is the smart use of our water resources through water-saving technologies and simple steps we can all take around the house. Using water efficiently will help ensure reliable water supplies today and for future generations.

Save Water, Save Money

The average household spends over $700 per year on its water and sewer bill. By making just a few simple changes to use water more efficiently, you could save about $200 per year. Also, when we use water more efficiently, we reduce the need for costly investments in water treatment and delivery systems.

Drops to Watts: Save Water, Save Energy

It takes a considerable amount of energy to deliver and treat the water you use every day. For example, letting your faucet run for five minutes uses about as much energy as letting a 60-watt light bulb run for 14 hours.

Heating water for bathing, shaving, cooking, and cleaning also requires a lot of energy. Homes with electric water heaters, for example, spend one-quarter of their electric bill just to heat water.

With climate change concerns, pervasive droughts, and high energy prices across the country, nearly everyone is looking for ways to conserve resources and cut costs. The good news is that by using a little "water sense" we can all save water, energy, and money.

Battery Recycling - Where Can You Recycle and What Must You Recycle?

Battery Recycling
Improperly disposed batteries may produce the following potential problems or hazards: pollute lakes and streams as the metals vaporize into the air when burned, contribute hazardous heavy metals that infiltrate our water supply, expose the environment and water to lead and acid, contain strong corrosive acids, cause burns or danger to eyes and skin.  All of these are a high cost to individuals and society.

An excellent website that gives recycling information for all types of batteries and many other recyclable items is http://earth911.com/. Not only does this website provide information on specific products, it provides locations near your home where you can take your recyclable items.

Each of us can make a difference and collectively we can change the world for the better.

Do You See What I See? - A Family Service

Advent - our time of waiting and preparing for the birth of Christ - is celebrated by our lighting candles of the Advent wreath during the first four Sundays in December. This year, we look forward to a special service at the 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. Family Services on December 2, "Do You See What I See?" prepared by the Children and Family Ministries and the Chancel Choir. Carols, stories, and gifts for the children will light our way to the true meanings of our journey to the manger.

Everyone is encouraged to bring gifts of food, which the children will proudly deliver to the stable for a People's Resource Center offering.

With music and meditations for all, the whole church family is invited to share in this service as we welcome the Advent season.
