Benefits of Walking and Bicycling
Studies have found that walking and bicycling helps reduce your carbon footprint. Walking and bicycling produces no pollution, and helps make the roads safer. In congested areas cyclists and pedestrians breathe less fumes than drivers. Walking and bicycling also help reduce your waistline.

Benefits of Carpooling
Studies have found that carpooling helps reduce carbon dioxide. Taking your car off the road one day a week will help keep the air clean and remove congestion from the roads. Combine car trips instead of making separate trips throughout the day, combine errands to help reduce your carbon footprint. When possible, park in a central location and do all your errands. Also, be sure to bring reusable shopping bags when doing your errands.

Sanctuary Window Memorial Project

Sanctuary WindwoThe congregation will soon have an opportunity to honor a loved one through our Sanctuary Window Memorial Project. This memorial project, funded entirely by private donations, offers a unique opportunity to honor and remember a loved one for generations to come.

The side Sanctuary windows are the originals from 1927 (85 years old). They are constructed of single pane glass that is compromised due to the deterioration of the leaded joints that hold the glass pieces together. Over the past several years, many possible solutions to repair/restore/improve these windows have been explored, however none proved feasible. Our only option is full replacement.

During the month of February, everyone will have the opportunity to learn more about this memorial project. Presentations will be given on Sunday, February 3, 10, and 17 after each of our three services in Room 202. The congregation will be able to view designs created by three artists, ask questions and offer input. We look forward to your participation in this unique endeavor that will provide a lasting memorial.

The six sessions will be offered at 9:30 on Sunday mornings starting February 17, and ending on Palm Sunday, March 24. The series is authored by Rev. Adam Hamilton, Senior Pastor at UMC of the Resurrection in Leawood, KS.

While not required, books are available on line through Amazon and Cokesbury. There is also available a companion book of reflections designed for the forty days of Lent.

Please register here or by calling the church office.
