2015 Tour: Day 1

Wow! It has been an amazing tour so far! It has only been one day and so much has happened! After an early start yesterday and a long bus ride full of snacks, movies, sleeping, and laughs, it was good to be able to get off the bus and stretch our legs in Murfreesboro, TN. After having a great performance at AdamsPlace Retirement Community it was wonderful to see the tour participants speaking with residents and really connecting with our audience in a positive way. I was personally moved when an elderly woman came up to me and told me that seeing us sing brought her back to when see was in a choir many years ago. I also met another woman who had lived in a southern suburb of Chicago so she knew exactly where we came from. Since we were performing somewhat close to a church we performed at last year, some of the other tour participants actually met up with their host families from last year at the concert! Which just goes to show that the bonds we make with our host families sometimes last longer than we expect. When we left the retirement community, we headed to First United Methodist Church of Murfreesboro. There, the girls met up with their host families and the guys found out they were staying at the church. Now, I'm a girl, so I don't know exactly what happened last night but l know that Howie is down one pair of glasses. At my host home, my roommates and I had a awesome time getting to know our host family (complete with an adorable one year old named Evan and two playful dogs named Dixon and Gidget), taking long awaited showers, and catching up on sleep. The next morning we sang two Palm Sunday services at FUMC of Murfreesboro in their huge (and beautiful) sanctuary. The performance was excellent and now we are on our way to Tallassee, AL where we hope to have an even better concert! By: Anna Schroeder
