A seminar featuring the Rev. Amy DeLong, a champion fighting for the rights of gay clergy within the United Methodist Church.
Amy DeLong retained her orders after being doubly charged and tried by The United Methodist Church, she will lead a seminar at First United Methodist Church, Downers Grove from Friday, February 24 through Sunday, February 26, 2012.
Register online here using the form below or get a check to the church (made out to First UMC; note DeLong seminar.) Cost: $25.00 per person whether you come Friday only or Friday and Saturday (includes lunch.) Reservations must be received no later than February 23 to receive lunch on Saturday.

| 7:00-9:00pm | Peter, Paul and Dr. Suess: Moving Toward Inclusiveness We’ll have fun with Dr. Suess, look at Paul and Peter to better understand the Christian trajectory toward openness, and see critical moments in Christian history when decisions were made for inclusiveness. |
Saturday, February 25
| 9:00am-12:00pm | Truth-telling and Authentic Living: Amy's Story We'll look at the UMC position about GLBTs, their struggle to be included in the United Methodist Church and hear DeLong's stories of ministry in the church and experiencing a church trial. |

| 1:00-3:00pm | Finding Your Voice: Witnessing to Love DeLong will look with us at the realities of fear and risk, help us draw inspiration from the prophets and saints, and encourage us to become theologians in order to share new visions of justice and love. |

The Rev. Amy DeLong is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and served in local parish ministry for eight years. She received her Master of Arts in Theology from United Theological Seminary in the Twin Cities and her Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. She is currently appointed to Extension Ministry serving as the Executive Director of Kairos CoMotion, a non-profit organization which brings together a community of progressive Christians for networking, solidarity, theological education, spiritual growth, and advocacy for social justice.
Amy has co-authored and co-edited The Loyal Opposition: Struggling with the Church on Homosexuality. She served on the Wisconsin Annual Conference Board of Ordained Ministry for eight years and has twice been a delegate for Jurisdictional Conference. She also served on the National Board of the Methodist for Social Action, is the former co-chair of the Conference Commission on the Status and Role of Women and received the Wisconsin Methodist Federation for Social Action’s Perry Saito Award.
Amy shares a home in Wisconsin with her partner, Val, and their two cats, Saze and Kirby. Val and Amy’s two grown children live in Wisconsin and Colorado.
